Thanks to John's years of loyalty, Ian McShane's Winston does him a huge favor providing a warning and a head start (more than Adrianne Palicki's Ms. Perkins got in the first movie, certainly The action sequences in "John Wick: Chapter 4" are long battles, gun-fu shoot-outs between John and dozens of people who underestimate him, but they have so much momentum that they don't overstay their welcome. They also have wonderfully defined stakes. At one point in the film, John and an enemy decide on the parameters of a battle, including John Wick: Chapter 4 features the titular assassin's most grueling battle yet, making his death in the final moments all the more surprising. His demise feels somewhat abrupt since his gunshot wounds in the duel don't appear to have hit any vital organs, but considering the sheer amount of physical punishment he endures in his race to the church - including being run over by multiple cars and John Wick: movies can be criticized for glorifying guns, but most viewers will correlate the most intense sequences with the fictional worlds of modern gaming. John Wick: Chapter 2 proved the first wasn't a fluke as it was just as well-received, if not better. .
